Sychar’s Well was born out of my life-long love for making, pattern, and heritage. I have worked as a translator for 10 years, but 2020’s lockdown plus maternity leave allowed me time to ponder how I would work while raising my child at home. For as long as I can remember I have found joy in making- whether it was mud bricks from the clay in Mum and Dad’s garden as a child, or designing my wedding dress from antique lace; it is a compulsion which has never left me and I am delighted and grateful that Providence has allowed me to follow this path.
The creations you will find here are a melding of that compulsion to make woven together with an appreciation for patterns and forms which give a nod to heritage and a traditional British and Irish aesthetic.
Originally from the rolling hills of Co. Down, I currently live in mid-Antrim with my husband and toddler (and one on the way), working from my studio at home.
